Red Ready Project Activities implementation in the East New Britain Province.

The Integrated Vulnerability Capacity Assessment (IVCA) was carried out in two communities last week by the ENB Branch volunteers. The main Facilitator from Oro Branch, Mr. Newby Cuthbert was sent to the Branch to facilitate the IVCA under peer-to-peer support arrangement. Fresh IVCA in Mandress Community in the Inland Baining LLG, Gazelle District, and a two days refresher at Malaguna No.2 in the Balanataman LLG, Rabaul District.

Each community will soon have their own Disaster Risk Reduction Plan from the assessment which should assist them to know their own vulnerabilities so as to find ways to mitigate them, respond to or withstand disasters should they occur, or for everyday resilience building for themselves and their community.

KPMG visits PNG RCS Inclusive Center

Teachers and Students from the PNG RCS Inclusive Education Resource Center at Hohola were delighted to have the staff from KPMG Papua New Guinea come and spend the day at the school. As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, the staff from KPMG did some clean-up before engaging with the students for a Sharing session.

Our dedicated volunteers from the NCD and Central Branch were present as always to lend a hand.

IFRC Regional Head meets Governor General

The Governor General of Papua New Guinea and Patron of the Papua New Guinea Red Cross Society His Excellency, Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae formally met the IFRC Regional Director Mr. Alexander Matheou at the Government House on Thursday.


The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the Head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and discuss the ways in which the Governor General can assist PNG Red Cross in carrying out its humanitarian efforts in Papua New Guinea.
In the meeting, Mr. Matheou said, many Red Cross-National Societies around the world have the Head of State as patron and they play a vital role in assisting the National Societies to play auxiliary roles to the government to help vulnerable people.
On behalf of the Country and PNG RCS, the Governor General thanked Mr. Matheou for coming to the country and discussing the issues firsthand.
His Excellency added that in his capacity as the Patron he will provide support where he can to help PNG Red Cross fulfill its mandate to serve and assist the most vulnerable in PNG.
Also present during the meeting were the IFRC Head of Country Delegation, Chairman, Secretary General, and Business Development Coordinator of the PNG Red Cross Society.
